Friday 13th September – Date Confirmed for Season 2 Finale

A Scottish Podcast season 2

A Scottish Podcast is an audio drama about a washed-up former radio DJ. His name is Lee, and these days he runs a paranormal investigation podcast called The Terror Files.

In season 2, we’ve travelled with Lee and pals Gina and Dougie to the North coast of Scotland. They’re investigating the lore surrounding a Lovecraftian scientist who was said to have taken up residence at a remote mansion during World War 2.

Season 2 will draw to a close on Friday 13th September, 2019. The 12th episode of the season will be titled “Gone”.

Podcast Reviews News, September 2018

Despite a complete lack of any new stuff recently (well, we did do a new prequel, and making season 2 is still our main priority) a couple of lovely reviews of the show popped up this month.

A huge thanks to Miscellany Media and The Cambridge Geek for their detailed and thorough takes on the series.

The first is a podcast episode of MMS’s Podcast Medley feature.

And the second is written review, which can be found on The Cambridge Geek blog.

Both reviewers are officially “due a pint”.

A New Start for A Scottish Podcast

Lee and Doug - A Scottish PodcastThe main characters of A Scottish Podcast originally appeared in a self-contained short audio drama called Why Kat & Doug Don’t Get Along.

It was created as a University project back in 2013.

In 2016, Lee and Doug returned in episode 1 of this series, which was, at that time, purely intended to be “a wee side project”.

The Why Kat & Doug Don’t Get Along story has always served as the prequel. However, as the podcast started to develop, we began to realise that it didn’t fully capture the spirit of the main series.

There’s no real ‘hook’ there, and the acting and production – though we were proud of it at the time – falls way short of the standards we’re capable of today.

With that in mind, we’ve gone and created a brand new prequel. One that we feel gives a much better intro to everything the show is about.

Fancy a listen? Here it is…

This probably wont download automatically in your podcast app – even if you’re subscribed to the show!

That’s because we replaced the file on the original prequel episode from July 2016, to maintain the show’s chronological order for new listeners.

So in Apple Podcasts, Overcast, or wherever it is you listen, just go into the episode list, scroll down to the episode titled “The Prequel”, and download that.

And you can still download Why Kat & Doug Don’t Get Along from our Extras page. It just won’t feature in the main feed listings anymore.

Season 2 Update – June 2018

The Royal Mile

Pleased to say that recording and production of Season 2 is now underway.

That’s all being done on an ongoing basis. It’s still at a very early stage but it’s good to be working on the actual end product at last.

Because there’s still a lot of recording to be done that’s outside of our control, we’re refraining from announcing a provisional episode 1 release date just yet. But that’ll happen at some point during the summer when we’re a bit more ahead of the game with things.

As Scotland aren’t at the World Cup, there’s little else to do now but sit and edit audio all summer.

Hope you enjoyed the pre-season friendlies and the poetry bonus episode. They were good fun to make, though we’re definitely looking forward to diving back into a new Terror Files investigation now!
